What makes a perforated metal facade work

A perforated facade is judged twice: once from the street as an image, and once from inside as light. Getting both right comes down to a few decisions made early.

Open area is the real design variable

The percentage of the sheet that's removed controls daylight, views, airflow and wind load. Pick a target open area per zone first, then design the pattern to hit it.

Let performance drive the pattern

Grading hole size across a panel can give privacy at eye level and more light above, or turn the whole elevation into a single image. The pattern should have a reason.

Design for the sheet

Panel sizes that nest well on standard sheets, and hole spacing that respects the material thickness, keep fabrication cost down without changing how the facade reads.
